On the art table this week...

Care to take a peek in my studio and see what I have been working on this week?

This little sunflower in a pot is a work in progress - still so much "in progress" that it doesn't even have a title. Any ideas?  I love to paint sunflowers because they are a favorite of mine, but if I name one more painting "Sunflower"... well, let's just say it should have some other name!

What do you think?

Blessings,
Kathy

  1. That flower is really cool! I've always sort of wanted to paint, but it's never really worked out for me. Probably because I'm miserable at drawing. I can paint miniature figurines pretty well! Oh, well. Realistically, I don't have time for drawing and painting, too, right now!

    1. Thank you! LOL - sorting out our "passions" is sometimes one of the hardest things! So many wonderful things to do...

  2. I love to paint. I don't have enough skill to sell them or anything, but it's a fun way to relax. As for a name, you could post another picture when it's complete and have your readers name it!

    1. Great idea =) Just moving paint around is fun - or why would we have loved finger painting so much? I create a lot of "mess-terpieces" but I have a lot of fun in the process.

  3. Love the new sunflower! How about "a sunny flower" -- it's not EXACTLY sunflower!!

  6. Love the painting, but I'm not very good with titles. Are there some synonyms for 'sunflower' that you could start using.

    1. Thank you! That's a good idea. Maybe I could even switch languages - a little French, a little Spanish... ;-)

  7. Very pretty! Love sunflowers too... hmmm no ideas on the name, I always have trouble naming. If you ever do a tall one, how about Grow Free...

    1. Thank you! Oh - that would be great for a giant sunflower. They are very tall!

  8. No names but I like the colors off to the side--my mind wants to turn them into "shapes".

    1. haha - One of them is starting to look like a butterfly to me. This started as a demo piece and I was showing some fun things about wet in wet backgrounds.

  10. starting to number them isn't the best of ideas. Maybe where it's sitting (if it's in a vase) or what (if anything) is going to be on the right. It's sweet! {:-D

  11. Your sunflower is very pretty; I'm trying to figure out what the brown beneath it is--might that help with naming your sunflower? For example: "Rock Path Sunflower," or "After the Rain Sunflower?"

    1. Thanks, Judy! Yeah, the little cup planter doesn't read very well. I picked that to put the sunflower in because I knew I could show my student how to "spatter" watercolor paint to match it's texture. Still a work in progress, so maybe I can add some more shape as I finish the painting.
