Etsy Blogger Blogger of the Month! SplendidLittleStars!

Oh, feast your eyes on these!

SparklyPark

Margaret, of Splendid Little Stars blog fame, also has two wonderful Etsy shops.  Sparkly Park features her wonderful jewelry designs including these adorable aqua angel earings!  She creates these little wonders using "gorgeous grade A round freshwater pearls, beautiful translucent glass, sterling silver, and silver plated pewter halo and wings."  She then adds French hammered sterling silver earwires to make a stunning and well crafted pair of earings.

You can easily tell that Margaret has a lot of talent and a love for creating beautiful things.  After you have enjoyed her Etsy shop, Sparkly Park, then stroll over to Splendid Little Stars and take a look at the fun things there.  This caught my eye right away!

Tag! I'm it!

"Wanna Be"

Here are 4 questions that I was ‘tagged’ with from Patch, at Patch’s Diary ~ http://patchfirstshop.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/four-questions/ ~

1. If you can be the Hollywood superstar (actor/actress) for one day, who do you want to be and what you wanna do that day?

Gee – I want to be myself and I want to star in National Velvet. Oh, wait – I think I have to be younger…

2. If you have a magic door to go to anywhere in the world, what is the place you wanna open this door to?

Narnia! I totally want to go through the wardrobe! Yeah, some of us just don’t want to grow up *winks*

3. What is your favorite song you sing in the shower/bathroom?

Sing? in the shower? I would probably drown…

4. Choose between Batman and Superman.. Who is your favorite Hero and why you like him?

Superman. Hey, he can fly. Batman just swings around.

Okay, now I have to ask four questions of four other people, so here you go!
1. You can go shopping in any city in the world. Where are you going and what will you buy?

2. Your favorite dessert has no calories! What will you eat?

3. What character from a book would you like to come to life so that you could spend an afternoon with him or her (or it!)?

4. You can have any famous museum painting in the world. Which one will hang in your home?

Now, tag! You're it!

They just followed me home - really - all of them!

I can not tell you the number of animals that I have acquired just by chance… well, I am going to try to tell you, so maybe that statement is not exactly true. Let's see…

Hinky, a fun and funny kitty joined us in our first apartment. She earned her name. She was joined by Critter, a lovely schnauzer who my ex-husband had brought home at the tender age of three weeks. They were best buddies all their lives.

There was Licorice - a white cat that my ex tossed into the yard as a kitten. He never did that again as he found out that if it had fins, fur or feathers and one or more legs attached that I was apt to keep it forever…

Mama cat had kittens in the neighbor's back room. She didn't really belong there, but there was a hole in the screen so she thought that she belonged there. We brought home (deliberately) one of the kittens. Later, Mama and another kitten followed me home. Hey, it just happened =p

Winter, a black dog, was headed to the pound. I guess that doesn't count as flying over the fence… but, hey - it's close!

Gadfry, then there were more cats…

• Morris and Moose, who came with the house. The owners gave us a discount on the house if promised to care for them.

• Blue Belle and Peaches - I did sooooo not name her! And we called her Belle =)

• Champagne and Coretta - who earned their names! They came with a little inheritance - yeah, someone paid me to take them. Coretta was the most unhappy and fattest cat I ever saw!

• Phil (short for Philatelic) and Spot who were abandoned in the local post office. Hey - that counts as a fence flying act!

• Forrest, who really didn't fly over the fence - but she did take up residence in my garage.

• And later on, Forrest's kitten, Pal, took up residence in the garage.

Now Fred and Ethel DID fly over the fence. But geese do fly. And geese don't like to be chased by puppies. And once geese find a happy home in puppiless land, they don't tend to fly back over the fence.

Ummm, the emu I returned. Though it did stay for about three days. You should have seen the great emu wrestling contest as they loaded it into the horse trailer to haul it home. Weird, but the emu and the horses got along just fine. Um… kind of more like the horses gave the emu a wide berth =p

And now there is Penne, the peahen who makes her rounds with the guinea fowl. Originally my neighbor got a peacock and a peahen, clipped their wings and parked them in her barn. They are nice to have around because they catch snakes. Snakes are not so nice to have around. Anyway, the peacock walked home. Go figure. However, our lovely little peahen stayed. She seems to share the opinion of the bird chasing puppies, though, so she did fly over the fence. After her wing feathers grew back, she just roosted up higher and the puppies got tired of chasing her. She travels with the guinea fowl when they make their rounds around our homes now, so I see her just about every day.

The motto of this tale of tails? Don't ever let the critter population know that the door is open or the fence is short enough to fly over unless you want LOTS of company!

Happy Funtry Friday!
Blessings,
Kathy

You might live in the country if...

Yep - you might live in the country if...

It takes you 45 minutes to get to the store and two hours to finish talking to everyone before you shop.

Your feed bill exceeds your grocery bill.

Mud is standard apparel.

The McDonald’s closes at 10 pm.

Rain is a national holiday.

Your doorbell is a dog.

You miss church and people call to see if you are okay.

Your alarm clock is a rooster.

The kids go through the drive-through hamburger place on horseback.

Everyone is in the local parade.

You wonder why the power didn't go out.

The post office closes for lunch.

You don't pay attention to the ruts in the road unless they are more than twelve inches deep.

And best of all – you can drink the water and breath the air!

Country blessings coming your way!

I have never seen a flower do this before...

And I am not sure exactly what caused this to happen...

It certainly doesn't look anything like the other flowers on the same plant...

And it certainly doesn't look like any flower that I have ever seen before.  One thing for sure, though - this butterfly really loves this flower!

I'm sure that this butterfly appreciated the blessing of the additional nectar that this flower had.  Sometimes blessings come in very unique packages - in flowers, and in people!

God bless,
Kathy

Funtry Friday ~ A few of the neighbors and a local!

Some a little more welcome that others!  *roflol*

These guys crack me up!  Yep - he's sticking out his tongue at us =p

Yikes.  Make it go away!!!

What the heck is this???  I'm sure it can't fly with those tiny little wings and I figure that's a really good thing!  *roflol*

And, what, you may ask is going on here...

Yes, this is a perfect example of a horse with a sense of humor.  These would be Hershey's muddy feet.  And that would be my hand with a hoof pick to clean his muddy feet.  This day, Hershey decided that I only needed to clean three feet, not four.  Everytime I told him to lift his last foot up, he lifted up the first foot.  He knew that it was cracking me up, so he kept on doing it!

*roflol*  What do you do with a horse with a sense of humor!?  If I ever stop laughing, I'll let you know =p

Happy Funtry Friday!

Kathy

County Fair Funtry Fun!

County fairs are the best!

Lots of wonderful artwork by local students!

Something for everyone - in this case, Legos for my son-in-law!

Adopt a greyhound?  These look like my daughter's dogs - but they aren't!

Which came first?  The chicken...

... or the egg?

This way to all of the food not ever meant to be eaten
by someone who wants to live through the weekend...

And, nope, I did not look for any fried beer.

And this is about as close as I got to the rides!
*roflol* Very enterprising soul there - great place to park
a vehicle that's on sale!

Blue sky in the morning,
clouds in the evening,
rain all night!

Hope you enjoyed the Yavapai County Fair!

Art Splash on Etsy!

(take two....)

Okay, I tried to post this yesterday, but I am having internet hiccups.  Ahem.

So this is a little late; however, as you may know - there is ALWAYS a lot of beautiful artwork on Etsy.  You don't have to wait until the first Thursday of the month to see it - just search 'all items' for 'artsplash' (one word) and then be prepared to be amazed!  The Art Splash bunch just gives you a little reminder once a month to go and have an art feast on Etsy!

Just a little unexpected internet vacation...

Did you miss me????  Just a little technical difficulty.  This time my computer is fine (much better than the last time!) but my internet went south.  Or north.  Or trekking way out into outer space where no signal has gone before...

At any rate, after racing around like crazy and getting a message from the internet provider that their service was down and they didn't know when it would be back, I realized that I had better give my Etsy shop a vacation.  Sounds easy?  Yes.  If you have internet!  Let's see...
  • no internet at my house
  • no neighbors home next door
  • sister is with hubby at a 'gig' in Prescott Valley
  • library is closed (welcome to the small town life!)
  • nearest computer is an hour away... no, wait - that library is closed by now, too...
Okay.  maybe...  *poof* the internet is back!  quick close the shop! *poof* the internet is gone...  Well, the message did say 'possible intermittent service'.

Ahem.  Step outside and get some fresh air.

"Cottonwood in the Wind"
Enjoy the sound of the wind in the cottonwood trees.  Ahhhh...  perspective!

And now go do something else.  Like clean, exercise, enjoy the critters, rest, read, and paint.  I did them all - and not in that order, either.

Friday I took a trip to the local county fair (yep!  there will definitely be a blog post about that!) and Saturday I recovered from all the running around I did on Friday.  Today, I went to church, came home and made a delicious lunch of pancakes and eggs with my daughter's homemade strawberry syrup. And I played solitaire (because, you see, the computer works!).

And then *poof* the internet was back!   Well, imagine that.  I knew it would return - I just didn't know when.  One thing I did know was that I could not 'hurry up' the return of the internet by worrying about it.  So, I relaxed and got caught up on some of the other few million things there are to do around here.

So next time you have a technology hiccup, just relax and go do something 'in real life' and, if nothing else, enjoy a little peace and quiet!

Blessings,
Kathy
