These are a few of my favorite things ~

One of my favorite things about Christmas is going through all of the ornaments that I have collected through the years.  Some are ones that have been passed down in the family for several generations.  Some are handcrafted ornaments that were made by family members or friends.  Some are the fanciful creations of little fingers - and these are my favorites.

I have ornaments that my daughter created when she was  very young and now I am collecting ones that my grandchildren are making.

Lookie!  There are two generations of paper angels!  How fun is that?

I am so glad that one of the EtsyBlogger carnival's for December was to show a favorite gift that you received for Christmas.  Well, mine is just about anything that is handmade with love.  How about you?  Do you have a favorite gift that stands out in your mind?  Share with us!

PS  Yeah, it is a well known fact that I keep just about everything *rolls eyes* hehe - but I do have some pretty fantastic creations hanging around here!

  1. How special! I love that you kept your daughter's and now have your grandaughter's :)

  2. Kathy, how sweet are those angels. This post brought back memories, my Aunt had us make bells from paper cups covered with tin foil, I had my kids make them also - I think that is what I'll have the young ones do this Christmas and give a small award to each for most creative, funniest, etc. Thank you for posting and reminding me of this.

  3. wow!! they are lovely Christmas ornaments!!! they will be the treasure for your family too.. generation to generation.. they are history.. :D

  4. My Mom still has the ornaments we made in elementary school. I look forward to my own kids bringing their art home.

  5. So cute, Tapestry. I do not have too many hand made ornaments but I save most all of the art my granddaughter does whether it be cards or paintings or collages. :)

  6. memories - I am totally sentimental! But I love the things I have saved =)

Marlene - what a cute idea! I may have to swipe that one to do with the kids =) They could also be made out of paper with glitter splashed on them. hehe =) Mikayla (6 years old) LOVES glitter!

    Yes, Patch - I agree =)

    How fun, NICO =)

hehe - I save my grandkid's drawings too and put them all over the house! lol!

    Thanks, Splendid!

  7. I have books that were given to me by my Mom and Dad. They go with me wherever I live.

I bet it is a lot of fun to go through all the ornaments you have and talk about the people and stories attached to each one.

  8. Aren't these humble ornaments precious?! I have a few that my 21-year-old son made when he was in preschool. He can't believe I kept them, but the memories are so wonderful. Thanks for sharing yours.

  9. How fun, Juana! I have a math book that belonged to my grandmother - hehe - who shared my dislike of math. She wrote a poem to that effect in the front of the book - priceless! Indeed, sharing the stories of the people connected to treasures is a wonderful part of having those things.

Judy - that is so neat! I think that sharing the memories is one of the most fun parts of celebrating Christmas.

  10. Beautiful Angels, it's so cool that you have 2 generations too!

  11. Thanks, Pam =) It is fun. Maybe I can get the little granddaughter to make one this year =)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
