Wow - that sold fast!

Well, I listed Annabel Lee in my etsy shop yesterday, and she sold last night!  That made me very happy - Thank you, TulipsTreasureBox!  I appreciate the purchase =)  Check out her shop, too - really pretty jewelry in there.

I listed Dream-Land today.  These were so fun to do - definitely going to do some more soon!

Tonight I also listed prints of my latest painting, "Freedom".

Freedom is available in three sizes -
I had a lot of fun painting this stallion!  When I painted the mane, I used different colors to create a sense of power and strength.  I wanted to convey the natural tension that a wild stallion always seems to have.  They are incredibly beautiful and powerful!  If you want to see some great photography of wild horses, check out photographingnature on etsy.  She has some GREAT photos of wild horses.  She has a blog, too, where she shares lots of information about wild horses.

So, I can't do a wordless Wednesday every week...  *roflol* I have too much to say!  I'll be quiet now =)

Edgar Allan Poe pages - mixed media drawings

Have you seen the drawings and paintings that are done on old book pages? They have a unique look with the shadow of the printed words showing through the artwork. My daughter gave me some damaged books recently, so I decided to play around with some of the pages. These are done on poems by Edgar Allan Poe.

This is Annabel Lee…

And this is Dream-Land…

They were fun to do – and the smaller size made them a good project to slip in between some of the larger pieces of artwork that I am working on right now.

So what else am I working on? Well, I have started the series of drawings and paintings that are for the children’s book that Cynthia has written. I am really enjoying this project and, as we get more done, I will be posting some of the illustrations for the book here.

And… I am still creating new paintings for my show in November – and November is just around the corner!
It is proving to be a very busy Fall for me! Hope your Fall is full of fun, too =)

Laugh! It's good for you!

We all know that laughter is good for us, so here are some of my favorite places to go (besides my back yard!) when I want to laugh - some web sites, some blogs, some crazy fun ~

=D  Enjoy! (my daughter shared this with me - brace yourself - these are hysterical!  roflol!) (Hershey and Billie Jane enjoy this, too *winks*) (yeah, this could happen... and be reported on an insurance claim!) (yes, I have a warped and twisted sense of humor...) (be sure to read the strange headlines and news bloopers!) (I just found his blog, but I have listened to his 5 min. radio broadcast for years - very funny stuff!)

And last, but not least - check this out! Once you 'enter', just start clicking!

Have a blessed Sunday - and smile!
God bless,

You will show me the path of life;

I'm in two Etsy treasuries! Wow!

Diesel is in this one!

And Festus is in this one!

That makes for an exciting Etsy day *smiles*  Dog-gone - how about that?!

Somedays you just have to have some fun!

And today is one of those days!  So here is Billie Jane, sportin' her shades ~

I posted the altered art ACEO version of this painting before, but here is the full size one.  It's almost finished - just needs a few touch ups and that final good hard look.  I have had so much fun painting this - it just makes me laugh.

And, no - I did not do this to her flymask.

The flymask originally belonged to my neighbors.  Now, imagine this if you will...  You walk into their barn.  There are five stalls down one side of the barn.  There is a horse in each stall.  Each horse has a flymask.  And, you guessed it, each flymask has a different set of shades or eyes.  I was laughing so hard when I saw them - well... anything else I say would be TMI!  ROFLOL!

Now that I have finished this fun painting, I am turning my energies to finishing up some work for my show in November and filling up my Etsy shop for the Fall.  Guess I had better go get some painting done!  Feel free to grab a cup of hot chocolate and browse around here for a while *winks* Leave me a comment and I will catch up with you later =)

God bless,

Well, I was going to share some new artwork...

...but, when I went out to feed the horses - well, this is too funny not to share!

Forrest is always out there with me when I 'chore' and she spends a lot of time with the horses and the goats.  One reason she does that is because she likes to snack on their grain.  Hershey is contentedly munching his grain, so Forrest decided to move a little closer.  She is particularly fond of his grain because it has molasses in it.

At this point, I was aggravated that I didn't have my camera with me - what a shot!  roflol!  Then I remembered that my cell phone has a little camera in it, so I started snapping pictures.

In the meantime, Forrest decided to munch whatever she could find as fast as she could.  Hershey, who is very 'laid back' is ignoring her completely, so Forrest really started to make herself at home.

She was in Hershey's feeder for quite a while.  Finally he realized what she was up to and 'shooshed' her out.  What a pair!

Yep, there is a lot of fun in the 'country life' =) So much so that it can be hard to get the 'work' done!

Well, tomorrow I will show you my new artwork - hope you enjoyed the farm fun today!

PS Sorry for the quality of the photos - not too bad for a cell phone, though!

Futher adventures of Super Truck

Okay, Super Truck is a wannabe Farm Truck, but I just can't justify calling my little corner of the world a 'farm'.  However, Super Truck does have some typical farm truck traits...  It does have over 230,000 miles on it, sports a cracked windshield, one broken side view mirror, a busted tail gate latch, and peculiar visors, not to mention a few other oddities and interesting occurances.

But, hey ~ Super Truck has recovered from the recent misadventure of the buttons =)  Lookie - the buttons are back!

And, I might add, it was a very easy repair and at no charge.  roflol - no drawing to post *winks* the repair didn't take long enough to do one!

Super Truck did have another misadventure this weekend, though...  Location and human intervention can have a direct impact on the outcome of a 'day in the life of a truck' as I found out.

In other words...  When the three year old asks to 'pretend drive', I should not assume that her only focus will be on the steering wheel.  Honestly, I did not know that she knew how to turn the lights on...  And, Mama and I were standing right there, too!  Um... as they say...  'faster than the speed of light.'  =p

Super Truck has a good battery.
But not THAT good!

Oh, well, at least a jump start had no 'kaching' factor and just a little inconvenience =)

And, lesson learned!  I had better double check my truck after my little 'driver' has finished her tour of the countryside.  I won't underestimate this cutie again!

God bless,

PS ~ I might take a chance with my truck and a three year old again *laughs* but I will let the Lord who created everything steer my life!

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay,
and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Eyeses and Noses ~ The Eyes Have It ~ Blog to Blog Treasure Hunt

Ah, oh...

Lova and Cookie heard that Pal and OrangesBajoranges were on the blog and they are a little mift that they were not front and center in that spotlight!

Lova feigns disinterest... ummm... Or else she just woke up from a nap!

Cookie displays her very sad eyes and... no, wait ~ that would appear to be her look right before she lunges for her treat. Yeah...

Well, so maybe their Eyeses and their Noses weren't out of joint after all. But, as all you pet people know ~ it is better to be safe than sorry in that circumstance.

Of course, Queen Forrest ~ well ~ she is the Queen and she really couldn't care less what the peons are doing so long as her food dish is full.

In this case, The Eyes Have It Treasure Hunt has some noses attached! Well, toddle your eyeses and your noses over to Pam's and have a fun look at what surprises she has for you!

The Eyes Have It ~ Blog to Blog Treasure Hunt ~ ACEO Fun!

I created a post April 19, 2009 called Ten things I absolutely LOVE about ACEOs! In honor of our Blog to Blog “The Eyes Have It” Treasure Hunt, I have updated that list and added lots more reasons why ACEOs are so cool. Got your EYE on an ACEO? Check it out – here are 20 great reasons to start your collection or to add to it!

1. Since ACEOs are 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches (6.4 cm x 8.9 cm) - which is the size of a standard playing card or trading card – they are very easy to display in an album, easel, mat, little frame – or just leaning up on a shelf.

2. They are quicker to do than larger pieces of artwork - so you can create one while your morning coffee brews =)

3. There are artists all over the world who make, sell and trade these great little works of art so you could have a collection that includes art from lots of exotic places – like Paulden, Arizona *winks*

4. There is no end to the variety of media that artists use to create ACEOs. They can be done on paper, canvas, wood, with glass, with clay, on or in fiber (including felting and quilting), and any combination of mixed media creations. Carole (readingsully2) said that she saw an artist who actually used sliced colored pencils to make her ACEOs!

5. ACEOs are a great way to try out new paper or different media - nice to start small on some of those experiments!

6. You can find all kinds of artistic styles and any kind of subject matter in ACEOs.

7. They are fun to do with the grandkids *winks* or any kids!

8. They make awesome gifts - the next time that you send a card to a loved one that lives far away, tuck a little artwork in that card!

9. They are small enough that even with a busy schedule - you have time to do some little artwork.

10. They are great for working out ideas that can be used in larger paintings.

11. There are lots of challenges, groups, blogs, forums, and fun for people who like to make, sell and trade these little gems.

12. They are affordable to buy - which makes it nice for selling or buying =)

13. They make great bookmarks. The next time you give a book as a gift, tuck an ACEO in it, too. Your friend will think of you every time they use the bookmark and appreciate your gift.

14. They fit in your pocket. You can carry an entire gallery of ACEOs in a jacket pocket!

15. A quilter noted that she can finish an ACEO quilt in a day, while a full size quilt is very time consuming!

16. You will make lots of great friends who like ACEOs, too =)

17. They are very portable. Take your blank cards with you the next time you are waiting for the tires to be rotated. It sure beats reading all those out dated magazines with all the coupons clipped out of them.

18. They make wonderful ‘show and tell’ projects at school!

19. It’s a fun way to cheer up a friend. Give them a greeting card with an ACEO attached to the front of it.

20. They are cute! Come on – they are just cute!

Okay – now it’s your turn! Can you think of some more reasons they are so great?

God bless,

Okaaayyyy.... So where did they go????

Interesting... something appears to be missing here... Now, where could it be???

What originally happened...

What originally got fixed (and how)...

Hmmmmm..... now... ummm.... well.... Button, button - who has the button????
Oh, lookie there - the buttons are playing hide and seek! How cute. What clever little buttons to hide right there - ahem - just out of reach!Well, maybe my truck is getting really close to being a 'beater'... but it still has parts that work - ummm, well not this part. The odometer works great, though - it says 230 - plus - thousand miles on it =) But, hey - it is paid for and has been for a long time. That makes it a prize gemstone of the auto world in my eyes!

I try to throw in a little dose of 'Boy Scout prepared-ness' with this vehicle. *winks* For the last several days, I have VERY DILIGENTLY kept the windows in an 'upright' position =) The suspicious rattle was back, and the buttons had taken a little dip prior to their plunge into the 'door cave'. I had even called the mechanic to schedule a time for him to take another look at his handiwork.

I choose to smile when stuff like this happens - easier sometimes than other times! So, I did take some time to polish up my 'smile' button =)

I can't mold and shape every event in all my days, but I can be prepared to *smile* and follow the Lord. That doesn't mean that initially I will like the shape that every day takes, but it does mean that once I stop and look at it from His perspective, I will change my mind.

It's all a matter of attitude. If I let my attitude take over, things could get ugly (pass the smite button, please!). If I let God's attitude take over, He will mold my day into His day.

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay,
and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Isaiah 64:8
God bless,
PS No, I didn't stick my fingers down in that tiny little hole to try to fish out those rascally buttons *winks* but I did think about doing that! LOL!

Illustration Friday: Strong

The Illustration Friday challenge word for this week is 'strong'. One of the strongest things I have ever seen is a wild stallion full of fire and in his prime. There is an energy and power there that is unbelievable!
Wild horses are part of our national treasures!
If you would like information about our wild horses and what you can do to help protect them, check out Carrol's blog ---> here <--- She has lots of great information!
If you would like to know more about Illustration Friday,
click ---> here <--- Anyone can join in the fun and all of the (very easy to follow!) instructions are on the web site.
I will have prints of "Freedom!" listed in my etsy shop soon and the original will be available for sale at my show in November - unless someone talks me into selling it before then =D

9 things for 09/09/09 - EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival

The phrase "September 11th" has a totally different meaning than it did a few of years ago. It used to be just a date on the calendar, but now it's an historical event to remember. As we come to another anniversary of that day in 2001, it is a good time to also look forward and realize that the world is changed one person at a time. That means I need to do something positive if I want the world to change.

Since it is 09/09/09 - kind of a fun date! - I am sharing 9 simple things that can make the world a better place.

  1. Smile - it is a great gift and it costs nothing! (Who is having more fun? The ticklor or the ticklee??? In any case, I bet it made you smile!)
  2. Help a neighbor.
  3. Share - next time you go to the grocery store, buy a little extra for your local food bank.
  4. Invite someone to lunch *winks* eggs will do just fine!
  5. Visit someone who is homebound.
  6. Surprise someone with an unexpected kindness.
  7. Love someone enough to put their needs first.
  8. Pray.
  9. Stop and enjoy the sunset. Pause and put things into perspective - and into the hands of the Author of Creation.

Hey, what do you think? Pick one of my suggestions or try one of your own and then post a comment here about your experience!

PS Check out the EtsyBloggers Street Team ---> here <--- And watch my blog for more EtsyBlogger Carnival posts.

Well, I am going to post it here anyway....

Well, if you know me then you know how much I enjoy artistic challenges. I have a lot of fun with the ACEO Bounty Challenge and I have started posting things for Illustration Friday. I have been following another challenge that sounds like lots of fun. The 2 Things Challenge gives you two words that are the basis for your art. The latest challenge was Road/Arch.

So here is my interpretation of that:

There is just one little hitch in my participating in this particular challenge. I had a dyslexic computer moment. The challenge ended yesterday. Where was I? Probably lost on this road!

However, since I finished it and since I thought it was kind of fun, I decided to post it here anyway. A day late. This week's challenge is Apple/Eye. (Why does that make me think of potatoes???) Hmmm....

Which reminds me (the eyes remind me, not the potatoes...)! Ordinarily our Blog to Blog Treasure Hunt would be starting today - but (due to member travel and member computer goobers) it has been postponed until next Monday, September 14th. The subject will be "The Eyes Have It!" Be sure to stop back, check out all the directions, and jump into the fun for a chance to win a FREE ACEO =)

And, for now, you can just pause, take a deep breath, and be grateful that you are not trapped inside my mind on the Arch Road.

A lovely little fountain...

I like this fountain - it's at my vet's office. It's kind of funny - she bought it on ebay and she doesn't know who the artist is, or anything about it. She just liked it. I'm not sure why the fountain is turned off, either - but maybe that's to save water. After all, we do live in a desert.

I entered this photograph in a "Prescott Local Landmarks" art show. The whole idea of the show was to create art based on your favorite local landmark. When I thought of my favorite local landmarks, this sculpture came to mind.... um... and Pralines of Prescott's chocolate covered fudge came to mind. So maybe my idea of landmarks is a little different than most people!

But isn't that what makes the world such a wonderful place? We are unique - each of us, lovingly shaped by the Master's hand.

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay,
and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Isaiah 64:8
Have a blessed and unique day!

Blog Lovin' Award

Carole, at Art Plus was so sweet to pass on this award to me - and I am now passing it on to some great blog lovin' people who sparkle up the blog-o-sphere. Have fun checking out their super blogs!

Two Zany Zebras for some just plain zany fun!

Big Filly Adventures - because Hershey and Billie Jane love to read these adventures. I think they are getting too many ideas, though - especially about the human kite.

Handmade for Life always has very thoughtful posts and is very uplifting - and it is a subject that is near and dear to me.

Matt's Crafty Wife has the cutest etsy shop and she blogs, too. After you read her blog, be sure to jump on over to her -----> etsy shop <----- and check out all the very creative things she makes for babies, adults and home decor.

Remembrances - because we go way back and she is a real encouragement to me! Thanks =)

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do =)

Taking his advice... and sharing links with you!

Hey - it's always a good idea to follow sound advice. When I was at Robert Knudson's pastel demonstration last Friday, he mentioned how important composition is to your artwork and he suggested that everyone go and study composition again. Woohoo! an excuse to cruise the net for art information =) Faster than the speed of light, I was cruising on the internet and I found some great art information and hints on (one of my favorite how-to sites). So, here are a few links you might want to check out!

Lots of good information in there - now, off to loosen up my painting fingers and have some fun in the studio!

Illustration Friday: Magnify

The Illustration Friday Challenge for this week is 'Magnify'.

And, yes - that is exactly what it looks like - it is my church bulletin from last Sunday. Okay, I really was listening to the sermon - I just have this habit of doodling.. and, well... this Sunday it sort of grew... And, as my doodle grew, I thought of this week's Illustration Friday Challenge - Magnify. Um... so then I watered my doodle and it sprouted into this drawing. So, my answer to the challenge is to Magnify the Lord. ah... in pencil on my church bulletin...
And, yes - I did show it to the people I drew - and they did say that I could post it here. *thanks!*
Um... and, yes, I did show it to my Pastor - and yes, I will be going to the same church next week. Hmmm.... do you think they'll notice if I bring my travel watercolor set? Anyway, he also said that I could post it online *thanks, Dave!*
If you go to the Illustration Friday web site you can see the artwork that was chosen for last week's challenge - 'Caution'. You can also find all of the instructions on how to participate in the challenge. Join the fun - it's open to anyone!

Fun stuff!

Okay, this may look like the dumbest thing you have seen on my blog yet - but...
That is my own handwriting! Is that fun or what? I just had to share the link to where you could go to create a font with your own handwriting, too.
Have fun!
