Ten things I absolutely LOVE about ACEOs!

Can you think of more reasons to love them?

  • They are small and easy to display in an album, easel or little frame. And I have a real "thing" for small artwork! ACEOs are 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches (6.4 cm x 8.9 cm) - or the size of a standard playing card or trading card.

  • They are quicker to do than larger pieces of artwork - so you can have even more fun bouncing back and forth between several artistic creations in a shorter length of time =)

  • There are artists all over the world who make, sell and trade these great little works of art - so there is no end to the variety of styles and subject matter and media that you can obtain.

  • They are a great way to try out new paper or media - nice to start small on some of those experiments!

  • They are small enough that even with a busy schedule - you have time to do some artwork.

  • They are great for working out ideas that can be used in larger paintings.

  • There are lots of challenges, groups, blogs and fun for people who like to make, sell and trade these little gems. This helps to keep the artistic 'juices' flowing *winks*

  • They are affordable to buy - which makes it nice for selling or buying =)

  • They are fun to do with the grandkids *winks* or any kids!

  • And, last but not least! I just won a whole bunch of them =)

I WON! *Doing happy dance around the room!*

But what did I win? Well, I won the mini ACEO Bounty for April 15th!!! I am really excited because I will be receiving lots of ACEOs in the mail over the next few weeks as part of my mini Bounty "booty"! Woohoo!

What's an ACEO? It's a little work of art that is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches (that's 6.4 cm x 8.9 cm for all my international friends *winks*). ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals and they can be created in any media. I am going to share all the beautiful artwork that I will be receiving so that you can enjoy it, too! Wait until you see some of the gorgeous little artworks that have been graciously gifted to me by the ACEtsy Bounty Challenge bunch!

Curious about the Bounty Challenge and the mini Bounty Challenge? Check out this thread in the Etsy forums!

It's a long thread, but you don't have to read it all - just go to the last post and join in the fun! Watch out, though - creating ACEOs is like eating chocolate chip cookies - one is NOT enough *winks*

God bless and happy creating!

Two Zany Zebras

How cute is this?! Two Zany Zebras is the April featured blogger for the EtsyBloggers Street Team. You have to go see pictures of the ADORABLE kids on her blog! Reminds me of painting with Mikayla and Naomi =)

Her etsy shop has some really cute kid's things - oh, boy - and you all know that I am holding myself at bay on the baby shopping while waiting for my new grandbaby to be adopted! It is going to be REALLY hard for me to resist that blankie...

Check out her whacky, zany shop on etsy - have fun!

Newly listed in my Etsy shop - a photograph of Whinney and Mariah!

I have listed prints, original paintings and drawings - but I have never listed an unembelished photograph for sale in my Etsy shop. When I was taking pictures of Mariah and Whinny, this one really captured my heart! So I listed my first photo for sale! Check out my Etsy shop or click the title of this post to go see the photograph! Sorry, I tried to post it here, but I am having trouble uploading pictures tonight.

Hope you enjoy it!

Keep that camera handy!

My camera often acts as a sketch book for me. I see something that I would like to paint and I take a quick picture of it. Sometimes I just take my camera with me for inspiration. I now that out in God's beautiful world there a lots of paintings waiting to happen and that by the end of my walk, I will have lots of material for my next artistic adventure.

Today was one of those days. My neighbor has offered to help me renovate and repair my chicken coop - which it really needs. While he was doing other things this morning, I was getting everything ready. Then, I had a visitor... Since I was really working (really I was!) I didn't have my camera with me, so I ran inside and got it. I was rewarded with a number of great photos of this lovely little dove.

Yes - two days of fun photos - yesterday with Mariah and today with this little dove. It pays to keep that camera close by for all those little blessed moments. When I bought this camera, I looked for one that would fit in my purse and - yep! - it goes everywhere with me!
Well, now I really have lots of paintings to do, don't I! I had better go get to work =)

I love the Spring babies!

Isn't she precious! Mariah was born before dawn on the very windy morning of April 8th, 2009. She is such a pretty color - not quite grey - and she has markings like a Dun. It will be fun to see if she turns out to be a buckskin, a grey, or - what!

Mariah belongs to Tim and Lorie who are my dear friends and neighbors. Lorie is also my prayer partner and 'horse buddy'. It was fun to see Mariah when she was only a few hours old. We all petted her and watched her for a long time while mom, Whinny (yes, of Whinny and Forrest 'fame'!) watched.
By the way ~ Mariah's father is Chislom who is my sweet Hershey's son. Just a little extra fun for me to see his line passed on in another beautiful horse! Be on the lookout for a painting of her in the near future!

Spring rain!

Today I had a storm blow through - lots of wind and a little bit of rain. The clouds are still gathered so we may get a bit more rain in this area before it moves on. I love the Spring storms that make everything so green!

When it rains here, though, my thoughts turn to a young girl in Africa. Simangele lives in Swaziland, Africa, where there is a drought, a famine and AIDs claims the lives of too many people. Against all these odds, Simangele wants to grow up to be a doctor. Growing up will be hard, though – and her single mother, who is a school teacher, will have a difficult time helping Simangele go to school to be a doctor. I mailed the original of this ACEO to Simangele, with a little personal message to her on the back of it. I have made prints of this ACEO and will donate all of the proceeds of the sale of them to World Vision to help children like Simangele all over the world.

I joined the EtsyBloggers Team recently and they have a Blog Carnival with the topic to show something green in your shop - so here is Simangele's green tree - one to shade her from the sun as she enjoys the spring rain that I pray will come her way!
Hope you are having some gentle Spring rains, too, that will turn your world green!
God bless,
